I am double majoring in Art and Multimedia Arts and Sciences at UNC Asheville. I want to be an illustrator. I am interested in the people's side of art... posters, tee shirt designs, greeting cards, animated films, desktop backgrounds, logos, book covers, children's book illustrations, and more. I believe that an artist's job is not to judge what is beautiful, but to create that which is beautiful for everybody to enjoy. I generally enjoy observing people and considering how they think. Thus I love to read about psychology, sociology, history, philosophy, and more. I am both logical and creative and don't believe the two are opposites. I love computer science and am a big fan of free, open source software, which I use almost exclusively on my own computer.

Book cover project

SO, I have a project to create a book cover for my grandfather's book, "Sixty Slices of Life on Wry...the private life of a public broadcaster." The basic design is going to be a series of objects from the book, which I will draw, inside of a sandwich. I am either going to draw the images and scan them in, or draw them with my wacom tablet, or some combination thereof. Then I will assemble the images together on the computer. I plan on using Krita, an open source image editing program that, unlike, the Gimp, supports CMYK color. Anyway, I am going to be checking in with him each step of the way so that we can come up with a design we're both happy with. However, I will try to post the work in progress here on deviantart and hopefully can receive some good feedback from my DA community (I'm looking at you in particular, mutt2000) Let me know if you have any suggestions for this project, please, and once I have gotten past the initial research stage I will start posting stuff.
